Study smarter with lecture summaries

October 14, 2026

Taking notes by hand in a fast lecture means you often miss the explanation while writing down the last point. Recording the class lets you listen first and organize later.

After class, read the summary before the transcript. The overview and outline show you how the topic fits together, and the timestamps let you jump to the part you did not follow.

Turn the notes into questions. Ask the transcript to quiz you on definitions, or to explain a concept in simpler words. Active recall beats rereading, and it works best a day or two after the lecture.

Keep one folder per course and review the summaries weekly. Short, regular reviews are far more effective than a long session the night before an exam.

Always check important formulas and names against your textbook. Automatic transcripts are very good, but they can make mistakes.
